AT&T And OpenFeint Video Game Network To Offer Social Gaming Platform On Android Phones


In yet another indication of increasing popularity and importance of mobile gaming, mobile carrier AT&T has revealed its plan to Mobile Gaming Picoffer new social gaming platform for phones running on Android. The move of the carrier to invest on Android has come in the wake of its losing hold on Apple’s iPhone. It is to be noted that with iPhone’s availability on Verizon, AT&T’s hold on iPhone is expected to take a heavy toll.

Teaming Up With OpenFeint Video Game Network

AT&T will tie hands with OpenFeint Video Game Network for providing social gaming platform for phones running on Android OS. OpenFeint Video Game Network is a social gaming community whereby users can play games with each others across different operating systems. At the same time the community provides a platform for developers of game to create content.
OpenFeint Video Game Network is said to have 4500 games with 65 million registered users and the company claims to have a community of nearly 15,000 developers developing new games. Commenting on the development a spokeswoman of AT&T said that the carrier wants developers to come up with connected games for its users. Whatever, the case may be, the move will not only enhance gaming experience of Android phone lovers but is also expected to enhance the popularity of Android phones.
