Steam to get Video Recording; iOS, Android Support

Steam to get Video Recording; iOS, Android Support

If a report on the official Steam forums from a recent visit to Valve headquarters is to be believed, a lot of good things are coming to Steam. First up is the ability to record gameplay videos right on the Steam platform without the need for resource hogging third-party software like Fraps. The report cites Valve's Gabe Newell as the source, but the news isn't officially confirmed yet.

However, there seems to be a semblance of truth to this revelation, especially since valve recently added universal screen shot support in Steam. Users can now capture and upload screen shots to Valve's own cloud-based service. It only makes sense that the video capture feature be added to the available infrastructure. We foresee a tighter social integration with Twitter, Facebook, Digg and Reddit to leverage Steam's cloud based user generated content.

Gabe Newell has also spoken on the inclusion of Steam on mobile platforms like iOS and Android.
