LG is all set to unveil its Optimus Pad in Japan this month despite the country grappling with the aftermath of tsunami and the strongest earthquake till date.
The exclusive Japanese carrier for LG’s Optimus Pad, NTT Docomo Inc had started taking pre-orders of this tablet computer much prior to its launch and has promised to deliver it to its customers by the end of this month as stated by spokesperson of Docomo, Naoko Minobe.
Ken Hong, a Seoul-based spokesman for the world’s third-largest handset maker stated on a telephonic conversation today “There’s no reason to believe there will be any delay from our previous estimate.”
The LG Optimus Pad, the 8.9” touchscreen Android based tablet computer will firstly go on sale in Japan. The company unveiled this tablet computer in Barcelona last month.
Apple iPad 2 which was scheduled to be launched in Japan on 25th March will now be delayed following the tsunami and the devastating earthquake which hit the country.
Apple will begin the sale of its latest computer tablet in 26 other countries including Spain, New Zealand and Mexico on 25th March.
Apple has not yet set a new date for the launch of the iPad 2 in Japan. Apple which had unveiled its latest iPad tablet, the iPad 2 a few days back has sold more than 500,000 pieces of the device on its debut weekend.
