Remember back in the days when Sony Ericsson mentioned that due to hardware limitations, the Xperia X10 won’t be upgraded past Android 2.1? Well ever since they announced that the phone will be getting Gingerbread, people have realized that hardware limitations were all a sham. The folks over at XDA-developers managed to port Android 3.0, Honeycomb, onto the smartphone without much hassle.
Even though it is Honeycomb that was obtained from the SDK, (Google has yet to publicly release the source code for Honeycomb), they managed to get it up and running on the X10. As usual with all first builds, the phone is barely functional with the ROM but give those developers a few weeks and some magic is bound to happen.
What works:
- The Honeycomb GUI
- WiFi Connectivity
- Correctly mapped keys
- Phone charging
- ADB connect
- Touchscreen functionality
